Just a reminder... At VW, the expected lifespan of a car is still assumed to be 8 years and 15,000 km/year. Other manufacturers have similar assumptions. Only BMW goes a bit further with 16 years.

At VW, I know the mileage interval for the engine is 150,000 km. I also know this 150,000 km interval from BMW AG.

What really surprised me was a specification document from BMW M GmbH (BMW M GmbH) for suppliers. It states that components are expected to last for 300,000 km, and that until 150,000 km, the parts supplied by the manufacturers must remain within the tolerance range of new parts. I would have had the least confidence in the durability of M-series components.

Hello,

The potential savings when buying engine oil can be enormous, if you start calculating everything down to the last detail, like a milkmaid counting her pennies!

4.5 liters of engine oil from a reputable brand, costing €20 per liter, results in a cost of €0.006 per kilometer over a distance of 15,000 km.

Five liters of diesel costs €1.36 per 100 kilometers, which translates to €0.068 per kilometer.

Suddenly, the milkmaid realizes that you have to adjust the oil price lever to make driving a car more affordable!

I also have customers who prefer to buy their oil at the supermarket, but I need to ask them, especially during the winter, not to leave their oil in the car overnight, because refilling it with an ice cream scoop is quite labor-intensive.

Hi hardyscheibe.

I think the desire to save on oil is more related to the perceived price differences: "

Within the range of most car drivers (who don't live near areas with exceptionally low fuel prices), the differences in fuel prices typically fall within a range of +/- 5%. Effect: "I can't escape this price gouging."

Regarding oil prices, you can often save up to half the cost, depending on the brand and source (always ensuring it meets the appropriate VAG standard for the specific engine!). If that doesn't concern you, you're probably already 90% gone.
