Hello everyone!

I installed fog lights on my T4, but I haven't wired them up yet. I noticed two identical, two-pin connectors on the left and right sides. The right connector housing is blue, while the left one is completely covered in cavity wax, making it difficult to identify. I'm not sure what they connect to. They are two plastic parts that hang in a metal bracket on the underside of the frame. What are these things for? They can't be crash sensors, considering how loosely they are hanging. Could they just be holders for the fog light connectors, a kind of pre-wiring for the fog lights? The connectors are located right next to the fog lights, which seems logical. There's nothing extra specified in the wiring diagram to indicate that there are any sensors there. Does anyone have any idea what these things actually are?

A rather perplexed Peter greets you.

Hello.

Have you already installed the fuse, relay, and switch for the fog lights? If so, please turn them on and measure whether there is voltage at the specified connectors behind the bumper.

I think those are the fog lights. Mine are also blue on my Golf. And on my BMW, they were already pre-installed from the factory, you just had to connect them.

Best regards,
Ralf

Hello!

"Thank you, I'll try it. I just haven't had the time to work on it until now. I've definitely already installed the correct light switch. I'll complete the rest soon and then test it."

I understand, my question might have sounded a bit naive, but the plastic parts really look like something special, so I wanted to hold off on making any assumptions for now. With Vauweh, you never really know what's going on. icon_lol.gif

Greetings, Peter.

Hello everyone!

Okay, so the solution to the mystery. I finally had some time to look at my fog lights. I pulled out one of those connectors, along with the attached piece, from its housing, and what did I find? A sensor, hmm, but what kind of sensor. Since the part had a VW part number, I did some research. It's the temperature sensor for the auxiliary heater. It's unfortunate that this sensor happens to have the same connector housing as the fog lights, but that's just the way it is...

Okay, that would be clarified. I have no idea what the other plug is for, and I'm not particularly interested, since it certainly isn't for the fog lights icon_confused.gif.

Greetings, Peter.

Hi!
Just list the cable colors of the unknown connector. MAYBE someone can still help then...

Best regards,
