Passat 3B: 5- to 6-Speed Conversion - Easy?

"In my Passat 3B (3/2000 / ATJ), the third gear has been making a very noticeable grinding noise when shifting since yesterday. (Transmission EYZ). Especially when downshifting into third gear, there's a very unpleasant noise without double-clutching.''"
Most likely, the timing ring has broken, as the error appeared suddenly.

I'm now considering installing a used gearbox and I want to know if a 6-speed gearbox (e.g., ELN, ELP, EHW) can be used instead of the EYZ 5-speed gearbox. The gearboxes mentioned should all have the same housing and the same shift pattern (reverse gear on the left, front).

My question is, is this a "plug and play" solution, or does the conversion from a 5-speed to a 6-speed transmission also require a different shift linkage or something similar?

6-speed, 240mm clutch.

6-speed - intermediate plate and other starter/flywheel etc. etc.
