Hello!
So, I haven't replaced any control units myself yet.
Exception: My father once made a short circuit while installing a radio, which caused a control unit in a Skoda to fail.
Otherwise, it was once an A3, with a short circuit in the fan motor, which drained the battery overnight.
then the electronics started acting up, but it could all be re-learned.
Golf 4, well, the usual starting-up drama, which is common at cold starts, is known.
In winter, at 15° minus, it starts; when it's warm, it's bad; a new battery helped.
And especially spectacular:
Years ago, with my Corrado:
Without any prior warning, I get into the car in the afternoon, during the summer, and want to start the engine.
There was a loud bang, then nothing happened, everything was dead.
Battery explodes, a huge hole in the battery, and half of the engine compartment is ruined with acid. Grüße, Steffen!
