Well,
If I happen to make a hole in the gearbox, I'll just stick some decorative film over it.
Okay, just kidding. A friend is lending me his engine mount, so I'm going to replace both engine mounts now. The engine (which I tested today) is tilting noticeably in both mounts, and the right engine mount also has cracks in the rubber. Since it's likely a hydrolager, a failure is only a matter of time.
As I see it, both bearings are not mounted within the VW assembly tolerance, which is likely why they are prone to wear.
I have reordered all the screws; according to the instructions, they should always be replaced when new parts are installed. They haven't been replaced yet, but I think it's a good idea to invest in safety.
I'll try to tackle it next week, and I'll let you know if that resolves the issue. Finally, the car needs to be drivable again as quickly as possible, and it should cost as little as possible

.
"Understanding question: How do you properly align the motor according to the instructions?" I would have replaced each bearing individually, carefully adjusting it to the specified dimensions. I would start with the right bearing, as a clearance of 10...13mm needs to be set there. The left bearing, which is the gearbox bearing, is not dimensioned but only has the note "parallel alignment."
Greetings.
