Perkins 4.165 Engine: Specs & Performance

In the VW LT, from the model years 1976 to 1980, there was a 2.7L Perkins engine (4.165 or MKB: CG). Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to find data about it; Autodata doesn't list it, and even my trusted mechanic can only confirm that the engine existed.

Does anyone have more detailed information about the engine, such as bore/stroke, compression ratio, maximum RPM, etc.?
While you can find some data in the LT forum, the collection there is not very extensive .

Hi, take a look on eBay; there are currently a lot of VW repair manuals for the Perkins CG engine being offered.
You should be able to extract quite a bit of data from that.

Oh yeah:
- The 4.165 engine, with a 2.7-liter displacement and 68 horsepower, was also used in the Land Rover Defender in the 1970s. According to various off-road forums, parts for this engine should still be available through Land Rover dealers. Therefore, it might be possible to obtain data about it in this way.

- The 4.165 engine was also used in generator sets and as a marine engine, with the same cylinder head and block design.

Perkinscode: HA 4.165 Four-cylinder, 165 in³ diesel engine. Based on 4.154. Assembled by Perkins in Hannover for VW LT van.

Perkinscode: GA 4.154 Four-cylinder, 154 in³ diesel engine. Designed with the sister engine 6.231 but only produced by the licensee Toyo Kogyo (Mazda). Later developed into the 4.165/6.247 family.
