In my opinion, there is an error in the technical article. Applying pressure to the can on the wastegate does not open the wastegate; rather, it should keep it closed, meaning it should not move under normal circumstances when pressure is applied. Can you verify this?
Edit: There might be differences between 1Z/AHU and AAT/AEL in this case, and the information provided for AAT/AEL is definitely incorrect.

Okay, I understand it that way too. I wasn't aware that it opens on its own.
I will check that.

To be honest, I have to say that I've had a faulty oil separator more than once - so, while you might notice if the pressure from the turbocharger side is missing, it's not always that obvious.

I'm testing that right now.

Overall, based on my observations, I believe that if the turbocharger wasn't producing enough boost, it would produce a lot of soot. However, it's not doing that. Instead, it seems like it's not even requiring much fuel – perhaps it's simply injecting too little – so the fuel pump is the next thing I'm going to check.

THX.

According to SSP153 for the industrial engine, when the N75 valve is de-energized (unplugged), atmospheric pressure is applied to the wastegate. Unfortunately, it doesn't specify whether this results in excessively high boost pressure during driving or if the boost pressure remains below 0.6 bar.

Can you please tell me if your wastegate opens or closes when pressure is applied to the diaphragm, and what the resting state is? In other words, whether the wastegate is closed or open in the turbocharger when there is no pressure applied?

Best regards, Rainer.

HELLO

I would be happy to test that. I'm interested in it too.

Regarding the issue - I just drove without the exhaust, and the engine is running well. I'm going to replace the exhaust now - I think that was the problem...

I'll get back to you later!

Please don't forget to perform the boost pressure test drive with the hose disconnected from the wastegate valve.

I will definitely do that; I hope I'll have three working ones right away icon_wink.gif.

I'm not sure if it will still work today.

Very interesting. So, I drove it without the exhaust pipe, and it ran. I was full of energy and drove home, reattached the exhaust, and took it to the workshop to get it on the lift. I put the catalytic converter and exhaust in the trunk, and... what can I say, it now works perfectly fine even *with* that exhaust.
Hab es also nun gelassen mit dem Tausch - dafĂŒr TÜV und Achsvermessung auch noch gemacht - einwandfrei. DThank you for the information.

I've now done a test drive, and it turns out that the wastegate opens on its own at around 0.6 bar. So, if I disconnect the connector, the boost pressure remains at 0.6 bar, but it's stable. I experienced a significant pressure drop at 3000 rpm, but that doesn't happen when the wastegate is open.
According to this, PRESSURE is needed to push the wastegate closed – and this pressure is regulated via the gold-colored canister on the mass airflow sensor (MAF). The pressure comes from a line located at the front of the intake system, where the oil separator is installed. If the oil separator is broken or burst, the wastegate receives insufficient counter-pressure and remains open.

I also took a test drive and documented it – see the attachment.

Thank you all for your help - I'm a little smarter now!

Self-healing - or is something loose in the cat, which is currently not positioned sideways? We'll wait and see. icon_wink.gif

It was as if something was stuck - after a quick "blow," it started working.

Okay, if that happens again, I'll replace the catalytic converter. A used one won't get any worse. Or, I need to take a closer look and maybe figure out a completely different solution for that – that would probably work best...

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback! This aligns with my own experiences as well as the description of the wastegate pressure control system in the VW industrial engine.

Best regards, Rainer.
