A3 KI is not properly codifiable.

I have a 1998 A3 with a replacement ECU:

The coding "08xxx" should correspond to a 02K gearbox, but this is not the case.
As a result, the speedometer also shows significantly low values.

However, the coding "00044" is simply not recognized.

The combination, as typed by Martin, was incorrectly coded. Unfortunately, this cannot be corrected retrospectively on this combination instrument. -> Obtain the correct and correctly coded combination instrument.

honestly?

I can change the "front" parts (belt, washer fluid...) myself,
but this stupid 08 (for the 02K gearbox) won't come out.

Since the whole car only cost 700 EUR, it doesn't really make sense to buy a new KI.

Given that the "until" speed limit of 100km allows the odometer to be adjusted officially and only once, the software-based locking of the sensor for speeds over 100km for distance purposes could certainly make sense: wink:

What would this 100km rule achieve if, through appropriate gear code settings, the vehicle could be made to appear as if it were twice as old as it actually is?

Tip: Find a "speedometer adjuster". If he can do his job properly (!), then the gearbox should also be able to be adjusted again at a mileage of 100,000 km. Afterwards, you can enter the actual mileage again with VCDS - problem solved :wink:
