Hi
I am a little confused about the prices and versions.
I basically want to get rid of everything old and I have no idea which VCDS version is absolutely necessary.

Are there any lists available that show which version corresponds to which price and what features it offers?

Best regards, Frank

HEX-USB+CAN VCDS/OBD2 Professional Diagnostic System KKL+CAN (USB), for all vehicle models, it supports K-Line and CAN-Bus.

Suitable for both old and new vehicles, thus future-proof.

Um, yes, thank you first.
Where and at what price can it be ordered?
What are the prerequisites?
Is USB 1 therefore obsolete?
Is it sufficient if I drill the laptop's port via a PCMCIA card to USB 2.0?
(Power supply, transmission speed, etc.)
How much storage does the laptop need?
Surprisingly, this old piece of hardware is still running smoothly with 256 MB of RAM under XP and is handling all my needs so far.
Browsing the internet, searching for parts and instructions, even a free OBD2 software is available.
Is VCDS a memory hog?
Best regards, Frank

VCDS also runs flawlessly even on very old and outdated hardware, because the communication is handled by the interface.

Hi,

USB 1 is definitely working. It even works when you plug the USB into a virtual machine. The VM itself doesn't generate any significant load... therefore, it's completely unimportant.

But we really don't want to cultivate that -- we just had an issue with it not working properly with an apple. The hardware should be suitable for computer novices.

This does not mean that VCDS would not run on a VM...

To give you an idea, I'm using VCDS in the HEX-USB+CAN version with 2x2 adapters. In the garage, it runs on a Compaq Armada 1750 with USB1 (basically from the previous century), with WIN XP SP2, 128 MB RAM. "This allows for the connection of the vehicle with a 2x2 adapter, and also for communication with a VW model from 2012 via OBD2 I/F."

Hello,

Quote:
Is there a list somewhere that shows which version costs what and what it can do?

Here are 3 VCDS variants that are of interest:
- MicroCAN, if it is intended for your own cars and these are listed in the product description's vehicle type list.
- Professional KKL+CAN diagnostic tool for workshop use, including all Audi, Seat, Skoda, and VW models.
- Workshop Kit (equivalent to the professional KKL+CAN diagnostic tool) with additional adapters and live support.

List the vehicle that requires specific diagnostic tools:

Furthermore, there are also simplified versions or versions for specific purposes, with the option to upgrade later.
