Hello!

As we all know, there are more and more products entering the market in the additive sector. The big question is always: do they actually offer any real benefit? And of course, most of them also have the TÜV certification.

What currently interests me is micro-ceramic additives, which a dealer here in Austria is heavily promoting. The price is almost €100 for 500ml, and it's added to the engine oil after an oil change.

Fuel savings.
better engine performance.
reduced emissions.
lower oil consumption.
reduces wear and tear on engines and transmissions.
high ease of starting.
increased running smoothness.
Reducing engine noise.
Improved driving comfort.
Excellent running performance.
Reduction of operating costs.
Reducing engine oil temperature.
longer operating time.
better cold start performance.

Has anyone had any experience with this? What do you think about it?

*WOW* What an amazing product! It seems like there's nothing this stuff can't do!

</Ironie>
Seriously: This stuff really doesn't leave out any of the desired engine characteristics in its advertising claims. In my opinion, anyone who believes in that is to blame themselves and should gladly pay for it.

Ich no.

For me, this stuff belongs in the same category as things like crystals or magnetic fields that you're supposed to put in the air filter housing or around the fuel line. icon_arrow.gif It's pure money-making!

And even if something has a TÜV seal, take a look at what exactly was checked for that seal. Certainly, TÜV and similar organizations have not certified that the specified properties are actually met.

I'm going even further: Is this product approved by the vehicle manufacturer? (And by that, I mean approved by the manufacturer themselves, not the advertising claim: "Suitable for all VWs"). What does the vehicle manufacturer say (if there's still a warranty) in the event of damage if you've added something like that to the oil? In any case, the resulting mixture is no longer approved according to specification 507.00.

If needed: I can gladly sell you another 500ml of this "507.00" for a fancy price, complete with a sticker full of marketing promises. It's double the price of regular oil, but still only a fraction of the cost of your miracle product. For an extra charge, I can even add some dye to make it look even more impressive. All you have to do is believe in it, and please write some positive reviews about it.

Head-shaking greetings, at the level of a car enthusiast forum.
Sure, here's the translation:

"Guste" is a German word that means "gust" or "gust of wind." It can also be used to describe a sudden burst of something, such as laughter or anger.

Keine Erfahrung. Trying it out...

What I can definitely tell you is that "Slick 50" works.
Several years ago, I used an Au90 Q motor to try and quiet down the hydraulic lifters in my engine. Previous repair attempts (replacing the lifters twice) had failed.

In a friend's Opel Kadett, the oil consumption has measurably decreased.

Both cases are 24 years old. icon_wink.gif

Hello.

Just leave it.
The "additive" isn't actually "high-performance ceramic," but rather just a bit of base oil suspended within the solid particles.
Specifically, and just like with all other ceramic coating manufacturers, it's hexagonal boron nitride – which definitely has no place in engine oil.

The only thing the "hexagonal" boron nitride particles do is contaminate the oil, just like other contaminants and particulate matter.
Limit the oil's ability to disperse, or "consume" it.
Since the boron nitride particles are suspended in the oil (just like other solid contaminants that gradually enter the oil), the oil can no longer accommodate as many...
Absorb pollutants throughout the service interval as intended. The absorption capacity is therefore no longer sufficient for the "actual" pollutants -> which means...
This results in increased deposits within the engine.

"At 100 euros for a product that's just powder with a mineral carrier oil, the price is quite high," the customer thinks, "but it must be good, given the promises being made."
because if it's more expensive than other providers, it also has to work...or does it? icon_rolleyes.gif

It's a better and safer investment to buy good-quality, approved motor oil and change it regularly.
