| ........so, I used to have an Ibiza GT TDI from 1998 with 110 horsepower, which, according to a dynamometer, had 141.8 horsepower and 298 Nm of torque with a KW-Systems Powerbox and a Twister-Kit filter system, and it weighed 1135 kg. Now I want to get a new Ibiza TDI SPORT PD with 96 kW (1195 kg dry weight), and I test drove it this time!! I was totally impressed, except for the engine sound, which was definitely better in stock than my old tuned Ibiza (subjectively). I haven't driven Ulf's Golf yet, but it seems to be brutal, that red Golf!!! |
Hi.
If the PD-Ibiza actually performs better in real-world conditions than your old one with the AFN engine, then either the dyno measurements for the AFN were artificially inflated, or the PD engine (once again) has significantly more power than what's stated on paper.
Unfortunately, I got used to the Golf's approximately 130 horsepower very quickly. I haven't put it on a dynamometer yet (and I don't plan to), but I trust the now quite well-developed electronic fuel injection system just as much.

For me, brutal acceleration is something I associate with experiences on a completely different scale.
During my active time as a glider pilot, I made several hundred launches using winches.
Attached to approximately 1 kilometer of steel cable (6mm diameter) was an aircraft, weighing approximately 250 kilograms including the pilot. At the other end, an American-made V8 car engine with a 6.5-liter displacement and approximately 300 SAE horsepower was pulling, connected through an automatic transmission.
-> 0 - 100 km/h in approximately 3 seconds...

compared to that, all TDIs in the world are like bolted-down sleeping pills.
