Hello,

I've been able to read the diagnostic data of my Golf V R32 without any problems using VCDS in the past. However, today it's not working for me with VCDS, and neither is it working at the local garage!

"During installation and then testing, the following always occurs:"

CAN: not ready.

What could that be icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif?

Best regards, Peter.

Hello Peter,

The message appears when the interface does not detect a CAN bus. Therefore, the message is normal for vehicles that do not have a CAN bus at the diagnostic interface.

Since your last forum post was made using a MicroCAN (which only supports CAN), it should be working initially, and in your case, the error message would not be normal.

Has anything been modified or changed on the vehicle, wiring harness, or radio in the meantime?
Can you test the diagnostic cable on a different vehicle (e.g., Golf 5, 6, 7, and related platforms like the Skoda Octavia)?

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,

Yes, it's about the MicroCAN, and my car also has a CAN bus!

Later on, the MFA-XP (from Svenni) and the RFK were installed from a Golf 6. However, that was quite a few years ago, and everything has always worked perfectly since then!

Solution: When I disconnect the XP connection, it works! However, I don't understand why, since it has been working with the XP connection up until now.

Best regards, Peter.

Okay, I suspect the MFA-XP reads data from a CAN bus connection and then injects that data back into the vehicle via another CAN bus connection.

In addition to the data added by XP-MFA, the originally intended data must, of course, also be copied. It seems like something is being lost in the process.
They should release a software update (bug fix) for that part.

Best regards, Rainer.
