We recently had the AGR replaced (due to tooth loss and subsequent permanent occlusion).
With that old engine, you need to remove the cover with the integrated air filter, and then you can see the throttle valve directly.

The DK didn't look as good as the ones I cleaned at the T3 recently.

It's the same with the BBY. If you open it now with your finger and look at the underside, you can see – at least with the BBY – the real disaster. Because directly underneath, the AGR (Abgasrückführung) valve is located. I manually removed about 2 mm of dirt (using a wooden spatula, so as not to scratch anything), and then cleaned the rest with brake cleaner.
