Hello,
I purchased a HEX USB + CAN cable and tested it on a 2004 Touran and a 2005 Passat, and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, it didn't work on the 2003 BMW e46.
The question is: Is there a single cable that can be used to read data from both VW and BMW vehicles, or does one need to purchase two separate cables, such as a HEX USB + CAN and a Bavarian Technic cable?

Hello,
You can use the "OBD-2" button on the BMW within VCDS. Bavarian Technic is a separate system and has nothing to do with VCDS or the HEX-USB+CAN.
Best regards, Rainer.

Thank you for the quick response.
So, that means, in order to read and clear error codes for a BMW, for example, I need a different diagnostic system?
Regards,
Alex.

For all other error memories except those from the engine control unit: yes.
