Good morning.
I have a problem that I'm not quite sure how to categorize yet.
When shifting into first gear (this is where I've noticed it so far, as it's actually audible and noticeable), there's a jolt/thud.
I can often reproduce this issue in underground parking garages or supermarket parking lots, as you often stay in first gear, release the accelerator, and then accelerate slightly. Exactly at this "maneuver," the aforementioned thing happens.
I don't experience any vibrations in the steering wheel or the clutch pedal when the engine is idling, nor do I hear the typical sound of a worn dual-mass flywheel coming from the engine compartment.
Does anyone have any ideas about where to start?
Thank you and best regards,
Joschi.

Hello,
"I'm risking sounding silly by asking this, but..."
Is there a way to "test" this?
Somewhere, I read that you should engage the handbrake, put the car in first gear, and let it roll. Would a faulty engine mount cause the engine to lift?
Regards,
Joschi.

"Can you describe exactly when this happens? My PA 3C (backup) is doing the same thing, around 1200-1400 RPM. It feels like the power suddenly cuts out, as if the throttle is abruptly released without any dampening." I think it's probably a software issue with my car... it seems like the accelerator pedal doesn't fully release when you take your foot off it. LG, Onkel BM

Hi,
I can't recall the exact RPM range right now, but I can pay attention to it and let you know later.
To describe: I accelerate in first gear. Okay, so I let off the gas, then the car starts to coast â about 1-2 seconds later, I give it gas again (not full throttle), and I hear a "thumping" sound coming from the engine compartment, and I feel a jolt through the vehicle (sometimes it's barely noticeable, but sometimes it's quite pronounced).
Sometimes, especially when driving uphill, I feel like there's a significant delay when I take my foot off the gas. It takes a while for the car to actually stop accelerating.
When I "go over" the "peak" of the incline, I also hear a slight "thumping" sound coming from the engine compartment, regardless of whether I'm gently pressing the accelerator or letting the car coast.
Regards,
Joschi.

I noticed that the motor moved much more freely back and forth (by hand) on one side, right next to the battery, compared to the other side.
Using a flashlight and a mirror, I was able to identify the engine mount as "very loose" even before removing it.
My Passat has a bit too much play, but perhaps not enough.
You can notice it when using cruise control.
120-140 meters, slightly downhill, so not much, but still some flow... then the jumping starts.

Good morning.
I took the car to my VW workshop yesterday.
I took a test drive with a really nice service representative.
He could also hear the noise, so bring the vehicle onto the stage.
and reviewed.
Unfortunately, nothing was found.
Engine mounts are in good condition, and control arms, etc. have been inspected. Checked for loose parts, etc. - could not find anything unusual.
Best regards,
Joschi.

...was was done to the exhaust system? Reason: During a repair at a specialized workshop, a clamp was incorrectly installed and came loose due to sudden movements (acceleration)...
Greetings, Styrian.

Hi,
As far as I know, when the car was on the stage, the exhaust system, as much as was accessible, was also inspected.
Where was this clamp located at your place?
VG,
Joschi.

...I have to admit, my vehicle, in which this issue occurred, was older and a different model than yours. That probably doesn't apply to you.
Greetings, Styrian.
