I ordered a TRW brake caliper, and it arrived in a TRW box, but the caliper itself has "ATE" and even the "VW Audi" logo stamped on it.

So, I wouldn't have gone to bed that day without disassembling the suspicious brake caliper...

I still have it here; if I have time, I'll take it apart.

because I can't really imagine what was going on there.
Perhaps the "experts" used machine grease to install the sealing ring, which caused it to swell?
Please pay attention to whether you find any residue from it. Also, check if the sealing cuff appears to have somehow "grown."

This can be explained as follows: The TRW caliper is a refurbished replacement part, and the housing with the other logos and numbers comes from its previous life.
