Immobilizer: Disable After ECU Replacement

Hi, here's the text:

Caddy2 1.9 Tdi ALH. I had to replace my engine control unit because the old one had water damage. The previous owner had already deactivated the immobilizer on the old unit.

Now I'm standing here with a new control unit.
I only have the control unit and a licensed VCDS software.
Is there a chance?

Do you have a way to read and write to the EEPROM or flash memory? If so, I might be able to help.

The tools that worked with the EDC15 system weren't helpful in this case.

A car scan, or at least a scan of the MSTG (Main System Test Group), would certainly be helpful.

Then he needs to read the EEPROM using a programmer.

If the engine control units (ECUs) are 100% identical, you can simply solder the EEPROM with the disabled WFS (presumably a specific feature) onto the "new" ECU. This has the advantage that the mileage displayed by the instrument cluster will match the mileage recorded by the engine control unit.

The EEPROM is likely a B58253 DIL8 component, but in a surface-mount (SMD) package.

However, a prerequisite is that...
that the EEPROM survived the "failure" of the ECU without any damage.
