Hello everyone,

I bought a used, complete ALH engine that I'm going to use to mechanically convert a Caddy 14d.
Unfortunately, I'm finding several inconsistencies with the engine – at a price of €200, one shouldn't be surprised. I hope that at least the crankshaft mechanism is working properly.

The screws on the intake manifold were loose, and so was the hose on the turbo's intake side. This caused significant oil leakage onto the rear of the engine.

Today, I disassembled the engine further, and everything under the timing belt cover is also oily, covering the entire area.

Habt ihr eine Idee wo das herkommt? Da es bis oben hin und recht gleichmäßig verteilt ist, denke ich nicht, dass es der Kurbelwellensimmering ist. WWhat do you think?

I don't work on TDI engines every day, but with an ALH engine I had a few years ago, when it was at 180,000 km and due for its timing belt change, everything was completely dry there.

If this question is too simple for the forum, here's another one:
Which wastegate turbocharger would you recommend for a 1.9 TDI engine to achieve a boost pressure of 1.5-1.7 bar up to approximately 4,200 RPM?

Thank you and greetings.
Bernd.

Camshaft seal and crankshaft seal. Where else would it come from...? Just replace them and you're done. It's actually quite simple when the engine is already removed.

Hi.

Quote:
Welchen WASTEGATE Lader würdet ihr am 1,9 TDI für einen Ladedruck von 1,5-1,7 Bar bis min ca. 4.200 u/min empfehlen?

Absolute or relative boost pressure?
Absolutely: The turbocharger from the AGR engine.
Relative: I have no idea, I would never install a wastegate turbocharger there because it would have to be very large and would spool up much too late. Besides, the rest of the engine isn't suitable for that kind of boost pressure.

Best regards, Rainer.
