After an accident involving airbag deployment, a non-erasable error code B189C may be stored in the CAN gateway that cannot be cleared through normal procedures. After the vehicle has been repaired, the error code B189C can be cleared by accessing the basic settings in the gateway control unit (control unit address 19 - diagnostic interface) using VCDS. The following entry must be selected there: IDE06504-MAS02447 Reset of reversible crash shut-off - Release Dipl.-Ing.
