For the sake of transparency, I'll also share the solution to my problem with you.

In my case, the piston pin bearing had a crack, and a part of it was already missing.
The bearing simply fell out of the connecting rod.

I'm not quite finished assembling it yet, but it's probably as good as it's going to get.

The rest seemed to be mostly fine.
