If you're talking about me: I got it from eBay, and it cost a good 120 euros including shipping.

No, I meant Steffen icon_cool.gif.
I wouldn't buy those kinds of products at the store because you can't tell if they contain cheap, low-quality goods from China.

Hi!
I also got it from eBay, and the price was about the same as Olli's.
I would say, if it's from a vendor that appears reputable and it's an immediate purchase option, then there's nothing against it. I haven't had any bad experiences with buying things on eBay either.

If you want to get it for 30 euros, the chances are quite slim.

I also asked around at the usual places, like the local tool suppliers and parts dealers, but it's always 30-40 euros more expensive there.
And I simply cannot agree with that, no matter how hard I try.

That's just the way things are these days.
For example, I went to the pharmacy today and bought a small bottle of skin cream. It costs €19.50 for 100 ml, nothing special. A completely normal, preservative-free, urea-containing facial cream.

I asked the pharmacist (or the manager) why it's so expensive. "I don't want to buy the whole pharmacy right away. "Well, the effort, the service, the excellent advice, blah blah."
"Then I'll say, I shouldn't be surprised if I get called twice a week to pick up two truckloads of packages from a mail-order pharmacy in Bad Steben, because they simply don't have enough trucks and drivers to handle it."
I didn't get a discount voucher for that phrase, but I just had to say it.
To buy a pharmacy in our town for €80,000 and then close it down, that's all it took.
Grüße, Steffen!

***Warm-up***
Hi,
What are the cable gauges and lengths used in your CTEK chargers? I'm particularly interested in the CTEK MXS10, as there's a version with a 4-meter extension cable.
If the cross-sectional area is only 2.5 mm², the voltage drop across the cable and back is already 0.7 volts. The processor-controlled charging voltage becomes somewhat meaningless because of the voltage at the device's output, especially the charging termination voltage for an AGM battery.
On the other hand, it becomes somewhat impractical with a short 0.5-meter connecting cable.
Thanks & best regards.
Herbert.

I have a very old Ctek 4003, with a charging current of 4A.
The battery cables are actually only about 30cm long.
and approximately 1.5 mm² in cross-sectional area, but on the device itself, it is...
It has a secondary cable, approximately 3 meters long, leading to the plug.
for the battery cables.

If I'm already charging the battery, I'll program the processor.
to measure the voltage during the pulse pauses - then it matters.
The voltage drop is not a factor.

Best regards, gnash.

Thank you!

The 1.5 mm² cross-section seems to be the standard for all CTEK devices, including the MXS 10 EC, even with a 4-meter extension cable. Unfortunately, there is no information available in the technical specifications.
The PRO25S has an acceptable value of 5.3 mm² in its technical specifications. However, it does not have an increased short-circuit current for AGM batteries. The question is whether this increased voltage is actually needed for the given cable cross-section.

My impression is that the MXS devices up to model 10 are more suitable for battery maintenance and for motorcycles, but not for actually charging a large 90 Ah TDI battery. Even with the MXS10 version, the charging process takes too long. The constant current phase ends prematurely due to the voltage drop across the thin cable.
The competing products will likely be similar.
