"Things were better in the old days; I wish I could get my AAZ back."
Hello everyone,
Thank you for the advice.
New findings (besides cold feet):
Spark plugs checked (if the wiring to the plug were only 1 cm longer, it would be very easy to remove the connector from the recess

).
1. Multimeter readings show 0 ohms for all four candles, indicating continuity.
2. Bulb trick: Connect an H7 bulb in series; it will illuminate all the candles with roughly the same brightness (estimated by eye).
So, the candles are fine, I would say.
I also replaced the diesel filter
; the old one had a marking of 4/21, so it wasn't the first one used =)
But before all of the things mentioned above, I gave our Audi a jump start
(using standard 16mm² jumper cables with alligator clips), and the Polo started much better. It cranked for 2-3 seconds...
However, the temperature is only 0°C now.
Perhaps the battery is simply too weak? It's a Varta with 52Ah capacity. It feels like it could easily accommodate double that capacity. However, the battery still looks quite new...
What would you do? Would you replace it based on suspicion (and then immediately install the largest possible size that fits), or would you continue investigating?

Below a certain threshold, the starting process may be blocked depending on the engine control unit.

"The idle speed would therefore be another (logical) candidate. I'd rule out the glow plug for now - without fuel injection, I can pre-glow like a champion. This would explain the lack of white smoke and also why it makes absolutely no difference whether you pre-glow once or ten times."
What RPM would I need to have for the injectors to inject }?
Have a nice weekend and best regards.
David.
