Hello everyone,
I've been searching for a while now, but I haven't found the right answer.
What must be the starter motor speed or engine speed in PD engines to allow fuel injection to begin?
Is this also temperature-dependent?

The reason for my question is that I have a Caddy 2.0 SDI that was parked while still warm, and it wouldn't start after about half an hour, and it hasn't started since.
The idle speed is around 210 RPM when the engine is cold, and the fuel injection amount is 0.0mg.

Thank you very much.
Sören.

Hello!

So, there's already been a lot of discussion about this in the forum, and I know that because I also had this problem with my Golf that has a distributor pump.
It was years ago, though.
The starting authorization for my Golf is temperature-dependent.
It always started cold very easily, but it started very poorly when warm.
It was just a simple battery issue.

Try searching for "start speed" or "initial speed".
There are endless posts.

And, I think 210 is a low number.
If I remember correctly, it was significantly more.
Grüße, Steffen!

I know there are many posts, especially about the VP TDI. However, those VP specifications probably won't be helpful to me because it's a different engine concept.
I haven't been able to find any specific numbers anywhere, for example, 250 rotations at 0° and 290 at 80°.
I am aware that there are 210 revolutions missing.

Hello, and good day.

According to the manufacturer, a minimum speed of 280 RPM must be achieved.

The document TPI 2013825/5 provides specific suggestions for addressing the issue.

Best regards,

Michael.

Please unplug the G62 and then test it.

Besides a fault in the control unit, the same result is obtained.
My BLS starts injecting fuel at only 189 revolutions per minute.

Hello,

Does this device have an electric shut-off valve or a pneumatic one? Is the synchronization angle correct?

Best regards, Rainer.

So, not the usual warm-start problem...

What about a proper jump start?

Hello everyone,

The engine has an electric shut-off valve that is also open (the intake manifold has been removed).
Synchronization angle is between 0.0 and +0.5. Timing belt tension is correct.
A new battery and additional external jump-starting both lead to the same result.
Whether I unplug the connector from the G62 or not doesn't change its behavior.
I already suspected the crankshaft position sensor (G28) and replaced it because I've had a similar problem before where it failed without throwing any error codes.

Hi,
from the first post:
Quote:

If the injection amount is set to 0 mg, does that mean the starting authorization is missing? Possible causes: Target speed not reached, Hall sensor not providing a signal, speed sensor not providing a signal.

The engine is running again.
The problem was a defect in the engine control unit (ECU) that prevented the piezoelectric (PD) elements from being activated.
I just installed an engine control unit (ECU) without the WFS (presumably a specific feature or system), and the engine started immediately at approximately 180 RPM.

Thank you for your ideas and help.
