Hello,
'The central locking system on my Golf 4 is malfunctioning. Every time I unlock the driver's side, the button on the passenger side pops up, but then retracts about 1/4 of the way back, so the passenger door cannot be opened from the outside. I have to use the manual door opener on the inside of the passenger door every time. Does anyone else experience this problem? It would be great if someone had a tip.'
Best regards and a happy New Year.
Manx.

Hello,
It sounds like your central locking system isn't original but was added later. I also installed a Waeco central locking system in my first Golf IV (it was quite a job, even the window panes had to be removed). In any case, I've only observed this behavior with the button bouncing back on systems that were added after the fact. I haven't seen it on systems that were originally installed. So, let us know if it's the original central locking system or not! In any case, I would recommend removing the door panel on the passenger side and taking a closer look at the actuator motor.

Hello,
I had a similar problem with my VW T4. In my case, it was the driver's side door. I could open and close the door without any problems using the remote control or the key. However, if I tried to open the door by pulling the door handle, the central locking system would automatically re-lock. The only way to override this was to hold the door lock button on the central locking system upwards. Then it would work.
My car door lock was broken. A small pin inside had snapped, which prevented the central locking button from fully retracting, causing the door to re-lock itself every time it was opened. The door lock has now been replaced and is working perfectly again.
Best regards, huskydoctor.

That sounds like the door lock might be defective, which we've experienced at our company before.
Probably, over a hundred have already been replaced.

Hello,
