Passat Tie Rod End - Installation & Review

The same problem has occurred with my car (as with many others). Replacing the tie rod end and the constant velocity joint boot, which of course wasn't covered by warranty, cost me approximately €356, including the alignment. Therefore, I would like to request a contribution towards the costs from VW. On what grounds can I claim this, and to whom should I address my request?
