Hi!
Could someone please create a log file for me that shows the history of the oil temperature (and maybe also the water temperature) after the car has been preheated with the auxiliary heater? Ideally, it should start recording from the moment the engine is started.
Motorkennbuchstabe ist mir eigentlich egal. am besten vom 3 oder 4 Zylinder TDI PD. Shifter car!
It would also be interesting to know the outside temperature at the time the recording was made.
Thank you very much.
Dirk.
P.S.: Unfortunately, I don't have an oil temperature sensor, so I'm curious to know how quickly the oil also reaches operating temperature if I pre-warm the car with the heater in the morning and then drive off.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with a LOG file.
Just think about it logically. The oil wouldn't have gotten that warm, since it's in the oil pan.
The coolant temperature should be quite high, as the interior gets quite warm.
Consequently, when the engine starts, the oil is warmed by the warmer engine block and the oil cooler, which means that the operating temperature is reached much faster.
You can assume that this corresponds to a motor start at approximately 25 degrees Celsius.
While the oil temperature is initially lower immediately after starting, it quickly warms up due to the hot coolant.

hi,
I can create a log file, though.
'But I don't have an oil temperature sensor.'
greetings

Hi!
@mersente:
Logically, I already knew that the oil doesn't get very warm during preheating. I would have liked to examine the heat exchanger's conversion of thermal energy in more detail using a log file... but still, thank you for revisiting this old topic!
@PowerSound3L: Thank you for your offer! However, I can also create a "normal" log; I'm just unfortunately also missing the oil temperature sensor.

Outside temperature: 3°C.
The temperature drop in the water after starting is caused by the automatic transmission, whose oil cooler is connected to the internal water circuit.

Hi!
Thank you for the log file! That's exactly what I was looking for, even though it's automatically generated.
The temperature drop in the water occurs in my car as well (it's a vehicle with a manual transmission). I think it's mainly due to the engine oil cooler.
If anyone else has something similar that they'd like to share, they can still send it to my email address.
Thank you very much.
Dirk.

Hello Gremlin,
Do you also have a log file without preheating, but with similar temperatures, for comparison?
How long do you preheat the car, and how do you set up your Climatronic?
I have an Eberspächer heater myself, and I preheat it for 25 minutes.
I manually set the Climatronic to fan speed 2 and 19°C.
For example, if I get into the car just before the heating system turns off, I notice that the fan is running on setting 4.
Normally, the level that I manually set should remain at level 2, right?
Thank you for your response.
Jürgen.

The climate control is set to 25° and ECON (my standard setting in winter). This setting is adopted for heating, but the fan only runs at half speed. After turning the ignition on, it operates as I last set it. However, this only works with software version 2.0.0 or later. Older versions, in my opinion, always heat to 22°.
The preheating time is approximately 30 minutes.

Thank you, Gremlin.
It went really fast with the log file.
"Thanks again. By the way, I drive a Golf TDI with 96 kW, manufactured in 2002."
You might then be using an older software version.
How do I remove this, and is it possible to get an update from customer service?
Best regards, Jürgen.

Connect the diagnostic tool to the bone and read the software version.
The update is not working, and it may not even be useful.
The 2.0.0 model has a major drawback: when using the cooling function, it only blows air through the vents at a Beaufort force of 12. This is unpleasant for the user and doesn't effectively cool the interior.
