I have an ALH engine with a chip installed (125 hp / 290 Nm according to the DZR), and I'm considering installing ASV injectors. I have three questions about this.

'1. Has anyone in this forum with tuned TDIs had any experiences regarding emissions testing? I'm interested in information about all types of TDIs.'

Should I have the chip (***) re-programmed?

3. Are there any reliable sources of information about what the ALH's powertrain (or, specifically, its transmission and clutch) can handle?

Hi Seat Leon.

I can only say that the clutch in the ALH engine is only designed to handle up to 250 Nm of torque.

Best regards,
Light switch.

Hi Seat Leon.

Best regards, light switch.

'However, I have significantly more torque, and my clutch is working perfectly. Is this information from VW?'

The information comes from the clutch manufacturer.

If you install ASV nozzles, you'll need to have the engine's chip re-tuned, otherwise the engine won't run properly.

Without the chip, there are no problems, even with sick leave.

How does this apply to AFN (0.216 nozzles) and AU?
The charging rate is increasing slightly. icon_twisted.gif

Yes, but it doesn't matter, even if it triggers a sell-off at 6000, it will still pass the AU (Acceptance Unit/Threshold).

There is no upper limit in the test.

Unfortunately, I don't have 216 nozzles, as they are too expensive icon_sad.gif.

I'm going to do a fuel pump upgrade in June (because it's cheaper than injectors), let's see what happens with the emissions test afterwards. But I think it should pass, because the entire engine map will be adjusted accordingly. After the upgrade, the power should be around 180 horsepower.
and range from 380 to 400 nm, all at a boost pressure of 1.7 bar. (Hopefully, it will run smoothly.)

I will be carrying out a fuel pump upgrade in June (as it's cheaper than injectors), let's see what the emissions test will be like afterwards. The performance will then be approximately 180 horsepower and 380-400 Nm of torque, all at a boost pressure of 1.7 bar. (Hopefully, it will work flawlessly.)

And what does the powertrain say about this power? Are you planning any modifications to it as well?

No, that small amount of power has to be handled by the drivetrain. If necessary, a reinforced clutch from Sachs can be installed, and that's it. The drivetrain can still be replaced if it's damaged, but I don't think that's likely.
I'll let you know when that happens, because I'm still waiting for my tax refund from 2003, and then I can easily afford it! icon_smile.gif

@SeatLeon:
The ASV injectors are a perfect fit for your ALH engine, trust me. With the stock software, there are absolutely no issues during the emissions test. The increase in rev limit is almost within the normal range of a standard engine.
If, however, you have a modified engine control unit (ECU), I would definitely have the fuel pump curve adjusted to match the larger injectors, otherwise you'll end up driving around like a fog machine. Otherwise, you'll also have problems with the emissions test. The combination of a modified ECU and larger injectors could also cause the engine to rev much higher than normal. So, definitely have the ECU re-programmed or have the original software re-installed.

@SteffarnViewing profile: Steffarn:
Unfortunately, your statement that there is no upper speed limit for the diesel engine during the approval test is incorrect. If you look at the approval test document, you will see a specified speed range within which the engine must operate.
I also don't want to be standing nearby when my TDI revs up to 6000 RPM. I'm afraid things might fly apart.

Regards,
Alex.

...what is the clutch's opinion of the AFN engine, and is that related to the increased rev limit?
uncritically (0.216 nozzles) during the AU icon_question.gif.

The ALH automatic transmission has 11mm pistons and 0.158-inch nozzles.

@SeatLeon:
The ASV nozzles fit perfectly with your ALH engine, believe me. However, if you have a chipped engine control unit, I would definitely recommend adjusting the pump characteristics to match the larger nozzles, unless you want to drive around like a fog machine.

Can I carefully drive to the chip tuner with the newly installed ASV injectors and the already chipped engine control unit (ECU) for adjustment? Or should I go to the tuner first and then install the new injectors? My concern is the potential for excessive smoke coming from the exhaust.
