hi

I just performed a smoke test to check the exhaust gas recirculation valve (N18).
I hear absolutely nothing, not even a click.

What is the purpose of this valve, and if it were to be defective, what would be the consequences (loss of performance, quality issues, etc.)?

Galaxy 90Ps chip 1Z (bekannter Fehler Saugrohrdruck Regeldifferenz) (Fehlern noch nicht gefunden , nur eingekreist dem Turbo fehlen ca 500mbar bis zur max. Performance.

Okay, here's the translation:

Thank you.

CU.

Hi alca,

You seem to be mixing up a few things right now. Please read the technical articles on VTG/wastegates and EGR. I'm sure that with about an hour of reading, you can narrow down the problem significantly and ask more targeted questions.

Hi there.

While this might not directly relate to the Galaxy, it's also connected to the EGR valve.

My father has a Jeep with a 2.5-liter TD engine (what's the difference between TD and TDI? Is it the swirl chamber?). Apparently, these engines are known to have problems with cracked cylinder heads (they have 4 separate heads).

A few weeks ago, we replaced the gasket between the intake manifold and the cylinder head, and the intake channels were much more clogged with soot than the exhaust manifold. This is certainly not ideal, and I don't think it's good to introduce exhaust gases into an engine that's already prone to overheating. Three people I asked all said that the second head was the problem, and that's also where most of the dirt accumulates, as the EGR valve is located right before the cylinder head and vents directly into the exhaust manifold.

Okay, so the question is: only one hose connects to the AGR valve on this engine, so there's no electronic monitoring involved. Can you simply disconnect the hose and plug it?

Could it be that it doesn't have an LMM or anything like that?

Hello everyone,

Please use the 'search' function.

The topic of AGR has been discussed to death!

So, now the question is, with this engine, only one line goes to the AGR valve, so there's no kind of electronic monitoring involved. Can you simply disconnect the hose and plug it?

And could it be that it doesn't have an LMM or something like that??

In my opinion, it should simply work by blocking it.

I think he already has an LMM (lambda sensor), but maybe it's a little better hidden than in VW cars.
...because it had to be mounted so high up, as it needs to be replaced frequently icon_rolleyes.gif.

hiho

'Isn't the IAT (intake air temperature) sensor located behind the air filter and in front of the turbo? But there's nothing there, just a piece of hose with no wires attached. And after the turbo, there's only a simple hose leading to the intercooler. However, there's a hose running from the intake manifold to the fuel pump.'

Oh, and that thing is from the year 1997 or so.

@Stummel

What does this have to do with alca's original question about AGR (ausgeklügelte Regelung der Abgasreinigung) and actuator diagnostics?

Regards,
Hermann.
