Hello,

I'm planning to install a VNT17 turbocharger in my Golf III AFN and then adjust the engine software accordingly.
I already have those nozzles installed (T4, size 216).

The performance will then be approximately 150-160 horsepower (hopefully icon_lol.gif).

The original clutch probably won't last very long.
What clutches do you recommend/use?

Regards,
DJ.

Hi,

I also drove the AFN with a 17-inch turbocharger and a chip. My clutch had 120,000 kilometers on it and handled it quite well. I think 150-160 horsepower is no problem for the standard clutch if treated reasonably.

I wouldn't worry about that for now... unless you actually need a new one.

Hi Arne!

ok, if the time comes, I'll ask again icon_smile.gif.
I now also have 120,000 km on my car.

Did you also do the renovation that I'm planning?

Regards,
DJ.

Hi dj1,

I didn't do the complete conversion. In one car, I had a chip and a 17-size turbocharger, and in the other, I had injectors and a chip (with a standard VNT15 turbocharger).

Good luck.

'If the clutch is slipping, it's often not directly due to the clutch itself, but rather to a leaking seal that allows oil to reach the clutch. I've experienced this twice.'

What about the seals (brass screws, gaskets between the manifold and turbo, etc.)?

Can I buy those from VNT15, or do I need to get them from somewhere else?

Regards,
DJ.

You can use the parts from the 15-liter engine. I reused all the old parts in my engine. At least, that works with the transversely mounted AFN engine.

Hello,

At F & S (part of the Mannesmann Group), there are various specialized clutch kits available, ranging from reinforced clutches to racing versions with bonded sinter linings and without torsional or axial springs.

For a relatively low price, people in Schweinfurt also manufacture clutches to order.

Happy switching!

Sorry, but the "Mannesmann Group" hasn't existed for three years already (I was actually involved with it)!
F & S was part of the ATECS division of Vodafone Technology and was sold by them to ZF, and it still belongs to ZF now.
