Hello forum,
I have a customer here with a Volkswagen Passat 35i, manufactured in May 1991.
The two front headlamps are electrically operated, but unfortunately, they don't open or close simultaneously.
It's normal like that, but the owner doesn't want it.
According to the wiring diagram, in my opinion, to achieve simultaneous operation, you would need to replace the switches and completely redesign the control unit.
Has anyone ever figured out if there's a different (easier) way to do it? Or why they built it that way in the first place?
Best regards, Gruß Schneemann

Tell the owner to press the buttons for both FH switches at the same time .
Okay, seriously, I've never owned a car where both windows worked perfectly synchronously. I think that's largely normal and doesn't require any correction.
The varying fit and friction of the window track are responsible for this.

Hello Marco.
You're right, but I actually didn't mean the mechanics.
I can press the buttons at the same time, but nothing happens.
I can only move one disc at a time, and then the other.
Even when closing, the comfort function ensures that the right window rises first, and then, once it's fully up, the left window rises.
I'm used to other cars having both windows operate simultaneously.
It's definitely an electrical "factory-installed" defect that I'm describing. Gruß Schneemann

Hi,
I would say they probably cut corners on the cable gauge and maybe even the fuse. An electric window draws a lot of power, and two running in parallel draw even more. If there's a specific reason for that, it's best to leave it as is, or carefully examine the wiring.
Best regards,
Jan, whose Ibi can almost move both windows synchronously. 1Z5 CFHF / AHB H4D

Hi Snowman.
The car, manufactured in 1991, is a 'B3' model. It has a single control unit for all four (or two) power windows. It is correct that you can only operate one window at a time.
Starting in 1993, the facelift model (the B4) was introduced. This model had a control unit for each window, which allowed for the simultaneous operation of multiple windows.
Unfortunately, I don't see any other option than to switch back to the technology from the B4. But whether it's worth it!

...life is hard and unfair.
No, it probably isn't worth it. But it's possible that someone might have successfully converted one cheaply and easily in the past.
By the way, has anyone installed the M320S remote control from In.pro in a B3? Is it easy to install, and does it function as it should, including the comfort closing feature? Because my friend just ordered one and assumes "the expert" (referring to someone else) will install it. Gruß Schneemann
