AGR/Injection Timing: Questions & Answers

I drive a 90 hp (engine code: AGR) TDI with the AGR valve disconnected, and recently I recorded the following data using VAGCOM:

The following measurement conditions were used: straight road; 4th gear; initial speed of approximately 42 km/h (partial load operation); then the accelerator pedal was fully depressed (at 4 seconds) until a speed of 120 km/h was reached.

'I'm satisfied with the curve starting from the 4th second... but the section up to 4 seconds is concerning. There's a significant deviation between the target and actual values regarding the injection timing. The TVH (travel valve height) of the magnetic valve that controls the injection timing is in the 'end-stop' position... There are no error entries in the control unit.'

Following the description 'Setting the 1.9 TDI distributor injection pump...' on this page, I used VAGCOM and the basic settings to record the static injection timing, with the following result: Field 9 (fuel temperature): 150, and Field 2 (start boost): shows values between 74 and 77. These values are therefore outside the tolerances shown on this page. However, these tolerances apply to other engine codes (MKB).

Does anyone know the target range for field 2 when field 9 is 150 on an AGR engine? Am I still within the tolerance range?

Is the fluctuation in the display from field 2 within acceptable limits, or does it indicate a loose timing belt pulley or a similar issue on the camshaft?

PS: About 9 months ago, a specialized workshop replaced my timing belt!

Did you also make sure that the coolant temperature was above 85°C?

At 150, the corresponding values for the EGR are:

Max: 65
Amount: 45
Min: 25

You probably need to adjust, or have adjusted, your ESP (Electronic Stability Program).

Can I assume that the lines representing the upper and lower tolerance limits in the diagram for the static injection timing on the AGR engine have the same slopes as the lines for the AFN engine shown on this page?

Okay, so: For field 9, the value is between 50 and 210.
SB upper limit = 92.3 + (-10/55) * Field9.
SB lower limit = 52.3 + (-10/55) * Field9.
