Regarding the situation, I looked at a Golf 1 today with a 1.6 TD engine (51 kW). The owner said that the car doesn't have a catalytic converter.
Is it possible to retrofit a catalytic converter to a vehicle and potentially achieve Euro 2 emissions standards? If so, does anyone have the contact information for a dealer who sells catalytic converters?
Oh yeah, the Golf originally had a 40 kW engine, but I've converted it to use a 51 kW engine.

First, you should find out which TD it is.
Is the JR from a Golf 2, or from the... um... the original TD Golf, which was called something else?
Then you can check out websites like Oberland and similar companies to see if they have anything you're looking for.

... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

The tip about the Upper Bavarian region was great!
Thank you.
For the 51 kW engine (with engine code CY) in the Golf 1, it is possible to retrofit it to meet Euro 1 emissions standards. For the JR engine in the Golf 2, it is possible to retrofit it to meet Euro 2 emissions standards.
Thank you for the quick help.
Best regards, Rudi.
