White smoke from engine: Causes & fixes.

Hey everyone, I need your advice again.

Okay, so my brother-in-law has a terrible problem with white smoke coming from his Audi A6 2.5 TDI quattro. I've noticed that the white smoke only appears when the engine is warm, around 90°C, and when the car is idling. I let the engine run, and it produces a huge cloud of smoke, which is really bad. Also, it smells like oil, although I'm not completely sure.
My brother-in-law uses 15W40 oil and has been topping it up with 0W30 for a while. I thought that might be the problem, but we changed the oil, and it didn't improve anything. It's still smoking like a fog machine.

Do you have any ideas?

It sounds similar to what I experienced with my A4 2.5 V6 TDI, manufactured in 1998 with 150 horsepower, especially when the engine is cold.
absolutely nothing, roughly from 80-90 degrees, and then it's just absolutely terrible .
It smells strongly of burnt oil, and the smoke disappears when you start driving.

As the engine ages, the crankcase pressure increases, leading to oil leaks at the engine seals and resulting in smoke. In the worst-case scenario, the crankshaft oil seal can even be forced out.
There's nothing you can do yourself; the filter is located under the pump and turbocharger .
For me, everything was fixed immediately after replacing the filter, including the oil consumption.
It ended up being around 1 liter per 6,000 kilometers for me.
