Yes, the AHH is actually almost the same as the ALH, but the ALH is for cars with engines mounted transversely, and the AHH is for cars with engines mounted longitudinally. I once came to the conclusion that the ALH was also used in the Passat 3B (which has a longitudinal engine). I don't want to deny that the cable harness is different, as I don't know both engines or have studied them.

So, to my knowledge, the 1Z and AHU differ due to the fuel injection pump and the EDC. I don't know exactly how the pump differs in terms of flow rate, but the main difference that occurred at this time was the change from the potentiometric measurement RWG to the HDK.
'However, even with minimal changes, you can achieve a significant improvement.'
I can't exactly download the changes, but I haven't really dealt with the archaic 'krempel' because it wasn't present.
Otherwise, the engines mainly differ due to the different blocks.
and then, in turn, according to emission class. except for the 90PS version, as the 'lader' (charger) changed from AGR=Wastegate to ALH=VTG. And of course, there were different nozzles used in Euro-2 and Euro-3 (190 -> 220 bar) and they were also different in terms of performance.
so, ganz grob gesagt...
See you, Gremlin

Did we not change the RWG much earlier (around 1994)?

Yep
My 12/95 1Z definitely has a HDK (even one that sometimes goes missing ).
I also had 94 in mind as the starting point for HDK.
The pump is, according to FILES at 1Z and AHU must be the same!
At EDC, it's no longer possible to distinguish, as the 021GG replaces all other MSTGs. I have the 021AF (i.e., MSA12) in Zone 1 and a colleague from AHU has one with MSA15.

at some point in the 1Z time
the exact date must be provided by the 1Z specialists...I currently don't have time for such investigations

No, definitely wrong. The 1Z also had the HDK pump, just like the others, starting around 1994.
And regarding your and Martin's EDC (Engineering Change Directive) suggestion: Both the 1Z (at the end) and the AHU were delivered with MSA15. For example, part number 028 906 021 BF. This does not therefore necessitate a change to the MKB (Material Bill of Kin). I still believe in the serial number overflow, as I am not aware of any other difference.
Greetings
Guste

"Difference" already.
The AHU has the AFN Flexpipe - but if you're already issuing a new MKB, you might as well fix a few minor issues

Hello,
Thank you again for the many detailed pieces of information; it has helped me a great deal.
I'm currently facing a specific problem regarding the identification of a motor that will be installed in my Magnum...
Would this engine have one of the standard engine codes? It would probably be too simple (sigh).
It's nice that there are at least a few people I can ask and who also provide thoughtful responses.
Greetings and thanks
Alex

Well,
then reveal the (non-standard) letter of your new Magnum's heart

Various engine repair specialists use different engine identification codes for their rebuilt engines than those originally used by the manufacturers. This means that a specific engine number can replace a whole range of engines. Unfortunately, the two numbers cannot be compared to each other.
I think this is where the problem lies. Gruß Bertil

Hello,
This engine was certainly never overhauled and was delivered exactly as is by VW...
...however, without the car around it, as it was our test bench engine.
Best regards, Alex

Hi,
Was, was, war er jemals ein Auto-TDI? VW delivers the parts as well for industrial engines... They also, of course, have their own MBKs.

hi Jan6k,
That's not a bad tip.
I had also thought of that, but where can I find the mapping of TDI industrial engines?
How can I compare an industrial motor with a corresponding automotive engine?
(It was claimed that it was a 1.9l AHH with 81kW, which seems contradictory, or?)
And I can't shake the feeling that they've installed AFN aggregates on an AHH motor...)
Best regards, Alex

Hi,
I don't know the MKB, but you should really just go to the "friendly" and ask him to look up the information in the parts catalog, as it should be there.
What's next on the agenda? As far as I know, you haven't told us yet...
Best regards,
