BMW Diesel: Starting Problems with CMR 1u2

Hi, I know this isn't really your area of expertise, but I was wondering if maybe someone here could take it on and include it with their BMW/MINI content.


Affected: All BMW diesel vehicles equipped with the CMR 1 and 2 generation systems.

Effect: Increased difficulty starting when the engine is warm.

Error code: Insufficient rail pressure at start-up.

Cause: One or more injectors are defective.

In the diesel engines mentioned above, one or more injectors can cause starting difficulties due to excessive fuel leakage.


Troubleshooting: Check the amount of fuel leakage with the engine running and at idle.
Maximum 180ml in 3 minutes. If a value above this is detected, all injectors must be replaced.

Hi,
It is a common CDI error.
It's not just happening with BMW.
However, only the defective injectors need to be replaced. Unless, of course, they are matched sets. It's quite an expensive undertaking.
