Hi.

Last weekend, I tried to give an SDI a little more power.

The object of the crafting project was a Polo 6N2 from December 1999, with a 1.7L 60 HP SDI (AKU) engine and 116,000 km on the odometer.

The "HoellenMaschiene" (Hell Machine) recorded lap times of 14.11 and 10 seconds for the DZR (presumably a type of vehicle or setting) on my test track (you can see that it unfortunately has a hill on it).

After the 680 ohms, which noticeably changed things on my 1Z, I got 12.xx and 9.xx seconds... (but I didn't really feel a difference - it could also be measurement tolerances).

BUT: A clearly visible Russian flag (visible in the dirty exterior mirror in wet weather).

So: At least the AKU (and probably all SDI vehicles) are operating so close to the Russian border that there's nothing that can be done about it.

m;

PS: This part doesn't have a mass airflow sensor, but in the electrical configuration block, there are 3 values (driver preference, and 2 others).
What do they mean by that, since there can't possibly be a Russian border?

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

"Hmm, I think it should be normal for the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio (SDI) to be set close to the boundary. It makes sense because the airflow should correspond to the specified values in all operating conditions, and the largest variable factor, the boost pressure, is not."
I also tinkered with a Golf SDI (engine code ???) and had similar experiences. Well, you're probably not going to turn those into rockets, but they do have other advantages...

I wanted to post this so that fewer people buy those 10-pin connectors for 30 euros (and then have to go back to VW because the cable information is incorrect in the system), only to be left with the extra parts.

But what advantages do SDIs offer?

A TDI engine driven in a mode optimized for fuel efficiency (similar to an SDI profile) will be more economical.

Martin, it's obvious: the turbo can't break down...

Seriously, the specific model I'm talking about has almost 400,000 kilometers on it, and there have been no issues with the engine.

It's a good car overall, and it's only used for long distances, which is really all it's needed for.

Well, it's all a matter of opinion.

I drove a Golf 2 S naturally aspirated diesel for 10 years, and now I've been driving a Golf 3 Variant TDI for 2.5 years.

Especially on long journeys, I think it's quite pleasant to have the *option* of choosing how you want to travel.

I also have the option of choosing between 90 hp/148 lb-ft of torque and 105 hp/184 lb-ft of torque, and I usually drive with the 90 hp engine, but I can switch to the 105 hp engine if I want.

And an SDI simply cannot do that.

It shouldn't become a religious war now icon_smile.gif.

You're right, I don't want to own one either.

What do they mean, because there can't be a Russian border.

Of course, it has a border with Russia.

very roughly:

(displacement x RPM) / volumetric efficiency = air mass per unit of time.

Strictly speaking, only the displacement and the delivery rate at the respective engine speed are taken into account. This is sufficiently accurate for diesel applications because, even at full load, there should still be a good excess of air...

It's clear that the Russian is very powerful, because the pump can deliver significantly more than the small SDI engine could ever consume. It was actually designed for TDI engines icon_wink.gif.

I would use the 10 cents to defend against BMW icon_twisted.gif.

Great idea... Bridge to the engine room: SEAL IT! That sounds like a naval battle from World War I! But it certainly has advantages on German highways. And it's reigniting the debate about particulate filters.
