Okay, here's my story about windows.

'Ever since I've owned the car, I've been having brake problems. (It's a Golf TDI 150 from December 2001). I've now replaced the brake discs five times, and they're already worn out again! It's simply unbelievable.'

Mehr noch weil meine Werkstatt sagt die Bremsscheiben vom 150 TDI sind vom 180 PS Audi TT. Is that correct?

When I brake, the steering wheel almost slips out of my hands! I'm really furious.

'When I get new brake pads (thankfully under warranty!), they only last for 3,000 to 4,000 kilometers. Then they start making a grinding noise, and shortly after, the steering wheel vibrates when I brake! You can really feel it throughout the entire car when I'm braking.'

What could that be? The workshop always just puts on new brake pads instead of properly investigating the issue.

'When I get new brake pads, I always bed them in very carefully. For the first 150 kilometers, I avoid hard or prolonged braking. And even in everyday driving, I don't drive aggressively or put extreme stress on the brakes. Of course, I sometimes have to brake hard, but that's part of the process!'
Believe me, I am behaving properly! icon_sad.gif

'The mechanics at the workshop are now starting to tell me that I'm driving TOO fast! What does 'too fast' even mean? Yes, I'm often in Germany, and yes, I drive at the maximum speed there. So what? It's a German car, right? It should be able to handle it! If not, then the braking system isn't adequate for the car.'

Please, a bicycle icon_sad.gif.

Thank you!

Sebastiaan.

'Could you please have the wheel hubs checked? It might not be the brake discs. Also, it's noticeable when you brake hard at around 40 km/h and the car pulls to one side.'

Hi MelleTom,

Yes, the car pulls slightly to the right when I brake, and it's quite noticeable. However, I was told that the wheel hubs were already replaced. Perhaps not? icon_confused.gif

Rumor:

I once heard that warped brake discs are usually caused by the wheel rims being tightened too much.

Rumor DEBUNKED.

I can't say for sure, as I've never encountered such a problem before.

If you've just installed new rotors icon_rolleyes.gif, you absolutely must measure the lateral runout using a dial indicator. There are tolerance values for that. But also, be sure to check the ease of movement of the brake pistons and the two pins.

Hello,

Try braking gently when the brakes are cold.
Perhaps drive a little more cautiously.
It's also not good to brake hard into a turn at high speed. It sounds silly, but if you really need to slow down from your maximum speed, you usually see the turn coming beforehand.
pulls it out and then doesn't fully brake it in one go, but rather...
brake, then go down again, and then brake again, so that the brake discs get hot.
allow it to cool down a bit.
I once had a G3 VR6, and it also had new brake discs every 10,000 km.
Due upon strict adherence.

But despite everything that VW & Audi are doing with the brakes, I think it's almost bordering on fraud! See my Audi A4 -->
Rude. And they just can't seem to fix it. I think the brake problems are probably normal for the A4 models.

Greetings, H-P.
