Hi, my Passat TDI is very difficult to start in the mornings; it often takes minutes of cranking before it starts (starting spray in the air filter helps). There are no air bubbles visible in the diesel lines (I've had that problem before), and it's not the glow plug system either.
In addition, a new problem has recently started occurring: while driving, the car occasionally stops responding to the accelerator pedal, but maintains its speed. After shifting gears, it then starts working again.
Reading the error memory revealed the following:
2 Faults Found:
01117 - Generator Terminal DF Load Signal.
27-10 - Implausible signal - Intermittent.
00550 - Start of Injection Regulation.
17-10 - Control Difference - Intermittent
The second error is probably the most interesting one.
I read that it could be the needle lift sensor or the fuel injection start valve (N108).
Could these parts be responsible for the poor starting performance?
When the car is parked on a slight incline (with the engine facing downhill), it seems to start better (or at least, that's my impression).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Regards,

DICC

The 01117 code doesn't matter; I and others have it constantly, without noticing anything.

The starting rule for sprints, "Error is there already," is quite interesting.

Let's try the usual approach.
- Clear the error and associate its recurrence with the problem.

But the way you're parking makes me think you might have air in the system (which would also explain the error message, because the self-balancing system can't regulate properly when there's air in the pump).

Okay, please check if you see any air bubbles in the transparent hose leading to the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and try to identify where they are coming from.

... there was another T.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Hi, as I said, there is no air in the hoses, even during starting. The outside temperature also doesn't play a role!

Recently, we had a case here with poor compression, and starting spray didn't help -> search function.

'Hey, I know that problem... same symptoms. I replaced the starter because the starter motor speed seemed too low, but it didn't help. Then I replaced the ESP (Engine Control Unit). It starts again, but it takes longer to crank, but I don't need starting fluid anymore. The cause is poor compression in two cylinders. I also had a fault code related to the injection timing control module. However, it only appeared under full load, usually when going uphill!'

Hi,
'The tips are great, but I don't think they have anything to do with my problem! The timing belt was replaced 10,000 km ago, and nothing seems worn out...'
I think it might be related to error code 550. If the problem occurs while driving, the engine emits incredible amounts of white smoke!
'Where is this valve 108 located, and can it be replaced by myself? What is the price, etc.?'

below, in the fuel injection pump...

If the device is defective, it often requires a major repair.

I would check the system for air bubbles again, and also inspect the tightness of all the connections.
A common cause of overheating is often the thermostat on the diesel filter.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
