Hello.

I'm facing a big problem again with my friend.

Last Sunday, I finished work at 4 PM. I got in the car, and when I tried to start it, it just made a grinding noise.
Diesel enough in the tank! icon_mad.gif I've noticed that the heating element is no longer lighting up.
Habe den freundlichen Not Dienst rausgeklingelt . Towed away!!!
On Monday, I took the car to VW. It started normally in the morning. The mechanic read the error codes, but nothing was stored (the mechanic panicked - what should we do now?).

I searched here in the DS forum, and K109 was often mentioned as a reason.
And that's exactly what the friendly mechanic replaced. He read the error code twice, plus 10 euros for the K109 part, plus 65 euros for the labor of replacing the relay.

Right now, it's 4 PM again, same location. The car still won't start!!! icon_twisted.gif Still no preheating indicator. And again, just the cranking sound, cranking sound, cranking sound. icon_question.gif It started so well all week!!!

This is the second weekend in a row where the friendly emergency service and I have crossed paths!
I could see the bewilderment on his face. They had never encountered anything like this before. Now I'm curious to see what they find (or try to find).

Does anyone else have an idea what the cause could be? icon_wink.gif
Perhaps I could then help the VW masters who are at a loss with some tips! }

No memory errors, the glow plug is not lit, the engine is cranking, and it's around 0 degrees Celsius outside.

Best regards and thank you, Klima96.

1.
"Every" Sunday at 4 PM in the same location could be caused by electromagnetic interference (strong transmitters, microwave link, etc.) -> we had a thread about that recently.

2.
Or perhaps the modifications made by *** are to blame: as far as I know, they not only install different engine control units, but also additional electronics that are intended to prevent the reading and modification of tuning data, and which could potentially cause strange "side effects."

3.
Combination of 1 and 2.

Hello.

I just picked up my car from the VW dealership again.

Nothing found. The Golf started up perfectly this morning at the VW dealership, without any issues. No errors were saved.

The master is at a loss and doesn't know what to do.

Apparently, the technicians checked all the connectors today and resoldered the joints in the control unit (including the ones on the A** chip socket).

Die Rechnung vom K109 hat er anstandslos zurückgezogen !!! Praise.

When I mentioned the microwave link to him, he just laughed.
But I also think that it's not unreasonable to consider it.

Furthermore, there was reportedly a news report on television yesterday about malfunctions in aircraft electronics.
And some amazing things were also demonstrated.

I need to drive now and will get back to you about the VW.

Best regards, Klima 96.

Hello,

I had the exact same problem. (Regarding the search function)

Ultimately, I initially suspected relay 103 (the glow plug relay).
After a yellow angel repeatedly came to the rescue, they tinkered with a relay.
Unfortunately, I can't say which one it was, because my wife was driving the vehicle at that time... (please don't think anything wrong icon_wink.gif).

'Anyway, it's been running without any problems since then...'

And I thought the PDs no longer had that relay problem.

Even with an unexpected failure of the glow plug system, an automatic starting system should still start the engine. I once accidentally turned the key while absentmindedly standing at -6 degrees Celsius.
(The car had been parked outside for 2 days) It started right up, although it was a bit "rough."

"The fact that the glow plug indicator isn't lighting up should also trigger other error messages in the system. Otherwise, as Ulf mentioned, it could be a chip problem, and I wouldn't want a regular VW mechanic using a soldering iron on the control unit. However, none of this explains why it's only happening in one specific location."

I had the exact same thought!

The VW technician explained to me that below a certain temperature, the car needs to pre-glow for a short period. And if it doesn't do that in my case, the fuel pump, located somewhere at the rear, near the tank, won't receive the signal to start working.

Fehler abgespeichert wird wohl nur wenns Wendel blinkt. !? VW.

Nothing is happening. Even the faint clicking sound of the relay engaging, which is normally audible, is not present.

Fortunately, so far, this whole endeavor hasn't cost me anything except time and nerves.

Best regards, Klima 96.

Okay, this "glowing phenomenon" related to the fuel pump is completely new to me, especially since the pump starts when the tank is "emptier." At least, that's what happens in my Golf IV. You can clearly hear it when you insert the key, and it happens simultaneously with the pre-glow.

When it's very cold and the car has been standing for a long time, it takes quite a while to warm up. But as I said, I once started it out of carelessness, and it started right away, although it was a bit sluggish at first.

Hello,

Your VW expert seems to know very little.

Even at -15°C, the PD engine will still start without glow plugs, although it doesn't sound great; it rumbles like crazy, but it runs. This happened to my wife when we first got the Golf IV, and she wasn't yet familiar with the quirks of diesel engines.

Perhaps there's a small issue with your key/immobilizer.
