Hello,
How did you solve the problem?

We wanted to connect a colleague's MP3 player to the car's audio system today, but we're having a problem: we're not getting any sound from the speakers.

Vehicle: 20-year-old Volkswagen Golf 3 with a Nokia sound system!!!

What is the significance of the pin assignments on the 10-pin connector that is connected to the rear of the VW Gamma car radio?

10-pin connector, red.

DTI; CD; SG; LIR; LOL.

CLK; DTO; CD+; LOR; LIL.

All are booked except for LOL and LOR!

He just wants to exchange the radio for a Kenwood MP3 player.
Is it because of the Nokia's sound system?
Does this need to be removed, or are there adapters available for it?

Hello.
I recently experienced the same problem.

Solution: A NOKIA DSP active system interface, valid up to 4/98. This is connected between the existing wiring harness and the radio. The disadvantage of this adapter is that it costs approximately 100€.

You can also try reversing the polarity, but that often results in annoying buzzing noises, which I've also tried.

Here's an address where you might be able to order this adapter: http://www.caraudio24.de/zubehoer/aktivsystemadapter/

Hello Emphaser and day traders,
Are you saying that you can wrap the cables?

Which one to where? Possibly the one with the designation 'SG' - ?
Is this the wiring harness for the Nokia sound system, the one that's controlled by the ignition?

As far as I know, the SG- had to be calibrated, but as mentioned before, there is interference there.

The other cables on the connector would then be for the CD changer, which you can't connect to with a different radio.
