Yesterday, I noticed that my diesel line was positioned in a way that the fuel had to be drawn vertically upwards and then would drip back down. This caused air to enter the system over a distance of about 10 cm. I repositioned it so that the fuel flowed horizontally. Then, the engine started. But this morning, it wouldn't start again.
If only I could finally read the error codes...
I'm not having any success with the TP5. I'm going to simply connect the K-line to the K-line of the vehicle's onboard network and then try reading the data using VAG-Com.

It comes from 'customer' and refers to a specific version designed for an end consumer.
For example, Eberspächer also manufactures the 'original XYZ auxiliary heater' directly for the automotive industry, which is then modified according to the specifications of the car manufacturer, for example, to be readable via the vehicle's diagnostic system, etc.
Then it's possible that you have a TP5 module compatible with this heater, but one that can't perform any error diagnostics because the communication goes through the vehicle's interface anyway.
A standard heating system cannot be diagnosed via vehicle diagnostics; it can only be accessed using the usual manufacturer-specific tools (fault readers, timers, etc.).

I just spoke with the technical support hotline at Eberspächer.
He told me that the K-line needs to be connected, which is why I can't get past the blinking time display.
He then said that only the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) devices were compatible with VAG-Com, and that aftermarket heaters would not work. However, he assured me that I could try it without any worries -> which I will do.
I also received a list of error codes in German.

I have now received the original instructions from Eberspächer.
You forgot that after turning on the TP5, the heating needs to be turned on for diagnostics. That's probably why I can't access it.

I have a D4W-S No. 25-1950 heater in a Galaxy, TDI, 81 kW, manufactured in 2/98 that has malfunctioned. From the previous posts, it's not entirely clear to me whether this heater can be diagnosed and reset using VAGCOM. Can I connect directly to the heater via the K-line? Which connector should I use (5 or 7)?
