Hello!

Something strange just happened to me...

I started my Passat (built in 1998) with the AFN TDI engine, and it wouldn't warm up.
After about 1.5 kilometers, which is where the needle should normally be pointing to the second mark, nothing had happened yet...
The ventilation system also wasn't blowing out warm air...
Then there were three beeps from the AI, and the coolant light was on... I then stopped to check... I opened the hood, AND everything was wet.

The coolant hose connecting the radiator to the water tank and engine had detached from the engine radiator.

When I took a closer look, I realized that the hose was secured with a metal ring. I then temporarily filled it with water and reattached the sprinkler. I drove again, and lo and behold, everything was working! The car is warming up normally again.

BUT
Before I get stuck with this problem out in the middle of nowhere, I want to discuss why this happened in the first place...

Best regards.

Here's how I attach the connectors with the retaining ring:

-Please lubricate the icon_wink.gif with a little oil or grease, but not so much that it ends up in the water.
- Place the retaining ring (into its final position), then firmly press the hose into place, which should be easier due to the lubricating film.
-you hear the correct clicking sound, then the snap of the retaining ring as it engages in its intended position.

In your case, someone probably attached the hose, thought it was properly seated, and pushed the retaining ring into place. However, this sometimes happens, but it's not ideal. The hose may seem to be in place, but over time, it can become loose and 'blow out.'

Strange, well... it seems he's holding on.

It doesn't budge, even when pulled. It's also very tight.

greetings

I find that strange icon_confused.gif.

I no longer rely on the 'click' icon_wink.gif. I only react to the 'snap' icon_wink.gif when the brace clicks into place.
