Hi,
I was just trying to activate a GRA (Generic Repair Authorization) on a 1.4L engine with part number MSA 15 (028 906 021 BF), but the control unit is not responding.
"My airbags and ABS are communicating with me, and my 021 AF and other control modules (e.g., an ASV) are also actively exchanging data. Only this one BCU [Body Control Module] refuses to communicate."
Does anyone have a specific tip (regarding which Block Integer and Character Integer values) on how to get the MSTG to cooperate?
Thank you.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Hi,
Have you set the initial baud rate to 240?
Best regards, Rainer.

The baud rate in the Windows settings?
Of course... not .
I hadn't even thought about that because I've been able to connect to everything so far, and I have my settings configured for GPS 9600/8N1.
"But Win2K doesn't even offer me a 240 baud option?!"
And now what?

Oops, never mind...
This whole situation is really confusing me right now.
"Start Baud" in the VAGCOM options is set to 0.
"The VAGCOM tool doesn't read that value; it says it should be between 1200 and 19200."
It's a very old version .
"Thank you."

Hi,
So, it should be at least 311.2, or preferably 409.1.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hmm...
Okay, so the 021BF unit (like all intact MSA15 units) should 'normally' work with a slightly damp finger.
Minimal adapter for desktop use:
Pin 1: Ground.
Pin 23: 12V.
Pin 61: K-line.
The VAG-COM version doesn't really matter; even the old 078 works fine. Special settings.
are (actually) not necessary.
Best regards,
Rudi

I have a custom-built optocoupler adapter and the old 081.
So far, I haven't encountered any problems with any of the STGs (although they were always VPs).
But maybe I can convince Volkswagen to just type in "11463" somehow.

Hi Martin,
Is the vehicle running with the TCU? If so (and assuming you haven't disabled the WFS),...
The K-Line communication must be working, because the WFS also uses K-Line for its communications.
with the MSTG.
But maybe I can convince VW to just type in 11463.
It only helps you up to the first mistake...
Best regards,
Rudi

As far as I know, the car is running perfectly fine.
It's my colleague's Golf 3 Syncro. I wanted to quickly give it a "Grüne Randabklebung" (green border sticker) before we head to Gardadei next Saturday.
WFS... Hmm, I might want to inquire about that.
Because I didn't get a spot in the WFS either.
And the G3 doesn't have anything more than MSTG, WFS, ABS, and airbags.

Have you ever installed that control unit (STG) in your Golf and taken a look?
Will you go in there? / Are you going to go in there?

Hmm, no, we didn't initiate that effort.
Damn, that's what we should have done. I already removed the cover on my Syncro, so I know it's a BF model.
