Hello,
I purchased a so-called 'BlackBoxx' some time ago and installed it in my Audi with an AKN engine. The increase in power was very impressive, but the enormous amount of black smoke was less desirable!
The module was repeatedly sent back and forth until a setting was reached where the increase in performance was minimal, but no or only very little black smoke was visible.
Now, my actual question is:
If I were able to access the engine control unit and set the fuel injection amount to the minimum value within its possible range, would the black smoke disappear? Or would this lead to other undesirable effects, such as excessively high combustion temperatures?
Ziel dieser ganzen Aktion ist max. Mehrleistung (natürlich im möglichen Rahmen) bei min. SBlack smoke!

More power equals more black smoke; you can adjust things on the control unit or in the engine management system, but that won't change it.
You have to live with it or increase the boost pressure.

Isn't the boost pressure already increased by the tuning box?
If not, how can this be done? I read something about replacing an SMD resistor in the '10Cent Tuning' section. Does this apply to my engine as well? How do I find this resistor?

It depends on where your pressure sensor is located... I don't know if the AKN has an external intake manifold sensor, or if it's integrated into the engine control unit. Gruß Ulf

The sensor definitely has to be located directly on the engine in order to record data locally. Or are the measured values 'converted' by some vehicles before they reach the control unit?
'Does anyone know how much you can increase the boost pressure on a V6 engine without causing any major problems? I've read that it can be increased by up to 0.2 bar – does this also apply to the AKN engine?'

Hi.
Yes, certainly, and also not quite: In older TDI engines, the sensor is located in the engine control unit (ECU) and receives the boost pressure from the intake manifold via a pressure hose.
The same principle applies to these types of motors regarding the replacement of resistors.
For sensors located within a pressure pipe, it is possible to use a diode or a resistor in the signal line.
It seems like Georg has some practical experience in that area... Gruß Ulf

one can restrict the airflow with a throttle and thus reduce the boost pressure sensed by the engine control unit.

Hi Achim,
In principle, that should also work, although I'm not familiar with the necessary hardware for it.
However, the electronic solution is significantly cheaper in terms of materials.
Therefore, this approach is included in the 10c tuning (otherwise, it would probably cost €10 for a boost pressure tuning  ). Gruß Ulf
