Hello everyone!

Has anyone ever had the opportunity to compare the low-temperature combustion (LLC) characteristics of an AGR, ALH, AHF, or ASV engine (all identical) with those of an ASZ engine?
Since the installation space and the installation conditions are identical, a higher cooling capacity, i.e., a larger surface area, could only be achieved through a more pronounced ribbing of the surface and/or a slightly greater overall depth.

Who knows more details?

How about the mechanical design? Is the ASZ turbocharger mechanically reinforced to better withstand the higher boost pressure?

Does anyone happen to have a picture of the intercooler piping for an ARL engine with a front-mounted intercooler?

Thank you icon_biggrin.gif.

Regards,
Alex.

Hi Alex,

I can only provide the following information:

The Golf 4 and the Ibiza both have the same (vehicle-specific) intercooler duct for all TDIs up to the ASZ engine, and the G4 uses the same intercooler as the A3.

The A3 has a different cooling air duct for the automatic air conditioning system (ASZ) compared to the other TDIs. In my opinion, this can only mean that the front of the ASZ's evaporator is located further forward, due to a greater cooling circuit depth.

I don't know, but the hoses are secured to the ATD (Air Tank Dryer) with spring band clamps, while at the ASZ (Air Suspension Compressor), they are clipped in place with retaining clips – presumably to prevent the hoses from detaching so easily under full pressure.

... and my AXR is falling outside the range again... icon_wink.gif
He also has clips like the ASZ.

I wanted to keep that quiet in order not to unnecessarily increase the confusion icon_lol.gif.

No, the hose clamps are categorized by the year of manufacture, not necessarily by engine type. Also, as far as I know, the ASZ model was initially built with band clamps.

I'm not entirely happy with the quick-release couplings. Without boost pressure, the hoses just hang limply in the connector sleeves, which results in quite a bit of play. In my opinion, this causes the system to automatically drain any remaining oil when parked, as it very slightly leaks from the bottom of the oil cooler in the absence of pressure.

It's possible. There's also some oil leakage at the bottom of the inlet of my LLK, even though the seal seems to be okay.

Ditto...

Why should my ASZ (local social security office) be different from Roger's?

However, back then, the VW assembly workers incorrectly installed the intercooler hose to the EGR system, which created a significant vacuum.
