Hello,
Since my 1Z engine is no longer working, I would like to know if the AHU engine, which I believe is almost identical, is compatible with the 1Z timing system, or if there are any known issues with using them together.
My car's manufacturing date is 6/95, while the AHU engine's manufacturing date is 11/97.
Thank you in advance.
Gruß Schneemann

No problems expected.
Your engine control unit is likely a 028 906 021 AF. The successor model is the 021 BF.
It applies to both the 1Z (my car - 05.96) and the AHU (Guste's car).
installed.

Best regards,
Rudi

... and the 028 906 021 GG replaces all previous models for the 1Z and AHU engines.

As far as I know, there wasn't an AHU with AF, but it will work perfectly fine.

Remember that the AHU has a different catalytic converter than the 1Z engine. However, the exhaust system before (turbo) and after (long pipe to the intermediate muffler) is the same.
The AHU (Air Handling Unit) has a long, flexible duct with additional support, and the catalytic converter is *always* permanently welded in place.
The 1Z has a short section of flexible pipe and a separate catalytic converter.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

No icon_cool.gif.
Only the MSA12 and MSA15 generations that were equipped with the pressure sensor.
The old boxes (021C, etc.) will be replaced with different numbers.
To the best of my knowledge, there was no AHU with AF.
Certainly not.
- but it will run perfectly fine.
That's what I meant.
Remember that the AHU has a different catalytic converter than the 1Z. However, before (the turbo) and after (the long pipe to the intermediate silencer), they are the same.
The AHU has a long flexible pipe with additional support and a catalytic converter that is _always_ permanently welded. The 1Z has a short flexible pipe, and the catalytic converter is separate.
wobei die Schnittstelle 'Motor / Lader' die selbe geblieben ist. Der Auspuff incl. Trouser leg.
'I have to keep working on it, especially since the donor engine doesn't have a catalytic converter.'

Best regards,
Rudi

Was ist die Bedeutung von "021C" im Zusammenhang mit dem Golf-Automodell?
Okay, icon_smile.gif.

You have to stay persistent if the donor engine doesn't come with a catalytic converter.

Not only the motor/bearing is the same, but also the impeller and the blower.
It only changes after the loader, including the catalytic converter.
From that point on (meaning roughly below the gear lever), it's the same again.

If you have the AHU flexible pipe, use it. Because the 1Z engine throws the exhaust fumes around quite a bit.
Since the AHU engine (and all subsequent TDI engines), the crankshaft has been longer and has an additional support... and there's a reason for that!
