Hello,

Okay, I've already searched the forum for information about back pressure, but I didn't find what I was looking for. I'd like to know how the back pressure is affected in a TDI (90 hp) 1Z engine (manufactured in 8/94) if I replace the original catalytic converter with an aftermarket exhaust system (63 mm diameter). Or, what if I use an MSD replacement pipe and then an aftermarket ESD exhaust? Does this damage the engine? And what about the sound? Can you get a sound similar to a gasoline engine?

Best regards,
Carsten

P.S.: This weekend, there's a BERU TOP 10 event in Oschersleben. icon_biggrin.gif I'll go there and ask the Alfa Diesel people what kind of system they have installed. And I'll listen to how it sounds. It's just a JTD, but the sound should be roughly the same.

Hello,
'I was in Oschersleben yesterday and noticed that they only have a single pipe as an exhaust. The diesel engine wasn't necessarily louder. And the mechanic said that the back pressure regulates itself. I can't quite recall all the details.'
But if you install a better exhaust system, you should get a slightly better sound.

Best regards,
Carsten

P.S.: I was told that the racing diesel engine lasts for approximately 2,000 kilometers.

hi!
I have a replacement exhaust pipe from MSD installed under my 1Z, along with a stainless steel ESD (electrostatic discharge) muffler. The car has become a bit louder, and the sound is more muffled.
I would try to use as few mufflers as possible on the diesel engine.
The replacement pipe allows the loader to accelerate a bit faster, or at least that's what I think.
These are my experiences.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'MFG' is an abbreviation for 'mit freundlichen Grüßen,' which means 'best regards' or 'sincerely.' It is commonly used in German-language emails and letters.
