Hi!
And another question:
Due to the extremely high prices for spare parts for my vehicle (automatic transmission: €9,000, automatic transmission: €14,000), I have decided to take out a warranty insurance that covers such things, even beyond the 150,000 km I have already driven.
Now, my question is:
It's advertised that this insurance lasts a lifetime, and you can renew it every year... but it seems like that's only half the truth, because in reality (according to the application form), you can only submit an APPLICATION every year, and whether it will be accepted is a different matter (and at what prices).
Therefore, it's not accurate to say that you can obtain a warranty insurance here for the next 10 years at a cost of approximately €400 per year.
Does anyone know more details about this?
Regards,
Felix.

Hello Felix,
As so often in life, death is pointless. Therefore, any economically viable guarantee/insurance must be as expensive as the expected repair costs plus the insurance company's overhead costs (salary of the insurance employee, rent for the office space, etc.) plus insurance tax.
If you'd like to help an insurance agent make a living and also contribute to their heating bills and rent, you can consider purchasing such an insurance policy.
In the long run (over several years), you will always be cheaper without insurance. Because, unlike a car accident, an engine replacement cannot ruin you financially.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
I am well aware that an insurance company also needs to be financially sustainable... and it's not just a money-making machine...
The problem with your suggestion is that I've already experienced engine failure, and the thought of paying nearly a third of the new car price for an AT engine, with the risk of potentially having to spend another half of the new car price on an AT transmission, well, I just want to be on the safe side.
Sure.
Regards,
Felix.
