Hello fellow mechanics.

This summer, I bought a new Seat Ibiza TDI (6L). The car is absolutely great, but the outdoor thermometer integrated into the multifunction display is a bit annoying. It shows at least 2°C too low. I didn't mind this much in the summer, but since 4°C (which I find quite early), this thing warns of frost with a beep. In my case, it warns at an actual temperature of 6°C. At this time of year, it practically beeps constantly, even though there's no sign of icy roads.

My Seat dealer said that the outside temperature gauge cannot be adjusted, and that I would have to live with it. He told me I should be happy that I am warned early enough and not too late.

I'm not going to settle for that just yet. Does anyone know if it's possible to calibrate the outdoor thermometer somehow?

I suppose these components normally operate using a temperature-dependent resistance.

And you should be able to easily influence this with cleverly chosen resistors or a small voltage divider, simply by inserting it into the wiring leading to the sensor (which should be located at the front of the bumper).

If it's some kind of overly complex semiconductor design, then it won't work.

Regarding the Seat dealer, this confirms my expectations - such information is consistent with my experiences with the brothers icon_wink.gif.

Best regards,

Jan.
