My TDI has been sitting for 2 months.
The battery was recharged, and everything worked perfectly.
"Tomorrow, it should start well again. However, when I stop the car after a longer or even shorter journey and try to start it again, it takes forever. I probably have to crank it for 10-20 seconds before it starts?"
What could that be? I'm at 240,000 km and still have the original glow plugs and injectors.
I'm really worried about the upcoming winter.
Regards,

Then, new nozzles would probably be worth the investment.
Otherwise, there's also a technical article here about various starting problems -> please read it! Gruß Ulf

I've already delved a bit deeper into the articles.
Is it actually difficult to replace the nozzles?
I have some concerns because the engine is already heavily covered with dirt and salt residue.
Does it behave similarly to spark plugs?
I was considering having it done by a chain of workshops, mainly for warranty purposes.
I just checked the positive and negative cables of the battery for corrosion and didn't find anything.
Unfortunately, I haven't been paying enough attention to the battery, meaning the water level was quite low. I'll also use a voltmeter this weekend to check if it's still producing enough power.

Same problem here.
In the forum, you will find many hints suggesting that the starter motor is...
it has aged too much or too quickly and therefore does not reach the minimum speed.
In 'my' workshop, the elucidated theory was presented with the argument...
'Why would poor contact points cause excessive resistance when exposed to higher temperatures?'
After 10 seconds, the organs suddenly stop starting.
'prevent'
questioned.
The workshop's suggestion was...
Air in the intake system.
Problems with the electronics that control the fuel injection.
Best regards.

Hello, you're in the right place regarding the starter motor; this is a common problem with these engines. Please disconnect the coolant temperature sensor and try starting the engine while it's warm. If it starts immediately, the sensor is likely fine, and you should replace the starter motor.

Can you tell me approximately where the sensor is located?
Best regards.

Hello, the sensor should be located on the coolant flange at the rear of the cylinder head outlet.

So, in my case, it was probably the battery.
I replaced these and haven't had any problems since.
With my old one, I had approximately 100 revolutions per minute according to the tachometer when starting.

That's definitely not the speed at which a TDI engine cranks (almost 2 revolutions per second) -> Is it a reading error or a poorly calibrated scale?
How much more is being displayed now (regarding organ playing)? Gruß Ulf
